The First Lady even requested that designer Gabriela Hearst use existing materials to minimize environmental impact.

First Lady Jill Biden is proving to be quite the savvy shopper.

On Wednesday, the First Lady attended husband and President Joe Biden's first address to a joint session of Congress in a look that was reminiscent of the ensemble she wore on Inauguration Day. The First Lady yet again asked designer and friend Gabriela Hearst to create a similar outfit for the occasion, but in a completely different color. Decked out in floral details, Dr. Biden kept the rest of her look pared down, allowing her dress to do the talking.

Delivered on the eve of President Biden's 100th day in office, according to Hearst's Instagram post, the embroidered mask-and-dress combo was made entirely from preexisting fabrics. In fact, the First Lady personally requested that the pieces from the original inaugural look be salvaged and then used for another event. "It was originally used to fit the inauguration one," the Uruguayan designer explained in her caption. "Double repurposed. New is not always better," she added.

As you may remember, the original dress and matching coat worn by Dr. Biden at the inauguration events were designed in a cream color, rather than the updated version's navy blue. However, both ensembles were subtly detailed with the Delaware flower (the peach blossom) positioned close to hear heart, as an homage to the First Lady's home state, along the mesh-paneled décolletage.

Dr. Biden wasn't the only member of her family who made waves for their Inaugural Day outfit choices. The whole family, from the children to the grandchildren, were dressed in statement-making monochromatic outfits that hopefully set the tone for the next four years.
